Greetings to fans, press and other readers. After a well-deserved rest for our captains near the end of this season, our schedule is starting to fill up again. This season was our best in terms of results, with our Monte Rosa GC and RotM YC as stand-out performances. Let’s look at the past and the future in this team overview:
---TEAM NEWS---
Structurally, our team has not made significant investments this season. After a few seasons of base-building, we should be able to slowly improve our facilities with small upgrades. We did add the Zyte Z-Time to our equipment line-up, these wheels were part of our solid TT performances in the tours.
We would also like to take this moment to thank our sponsors during this season:Chili Bot Hot Sauces, Alpine, Design av Småland, Zyte and Sir Frederick´s Safari Lodges. They brought around 260k to this team, making sure we can always train deserving Macedonian talents.
We finished this season with 100k more in the bank compared to the start of this season. However, this is mostly the result of a lack of training prospects to invest in, so our accumulation of wealth is not entirely a positive thing.
Our final economic position after S57:

---RACE NEWS---
First, let’s look at our most recent results, since our last press release about a month ago. In that press release, the team stated that “Jovan Georgievski will have to improve on last season to remain a protected rider.” In S56, Jovan got eight shots as a captain during the absence of Jordan and Rise, but only managed a single top-10 in these races. Well, he did improve upon that! Jovan managed five top-10s in seven races, including two podium places: 2d at Betchat Critérium and 3d at Pasto - Ipiales. We are happy that our Macedonian mountain goat is starting to be competitive in divisions 3 and 4.
Apart from Georgievski’s results, Riste Nikolovski got a nice 5th place at Dangers of Dolon Pass, only his 2d race after his holiday. Jordan Spirkoski will return to racing on day 1 of next season at Wels GP.
Now, let’s take a quick last look at our results in S57. We’ve spent plenty of time talking about our tour results, so in short: Riste’s second win atMonte Rosa Tour and Jordan’s first YC jersey at Race of the Minutemen were huge milestones for both riders and team. Our goals this season were to defend Riste’s Monte Rosa title and to see whether Jordan could be competitive in YC competitions. Naturally, the board have deemed our season a resounding success in that regard.
S57 brought us four victories (including the GC and YC win), a Velosipedska record. We also achieved 12 top-3 spots in total this season, an even more impressive record considering the divisions in which the results were gained. In our previous record season (S54, 10 top-3’s), all results were gained in divisions 5 and 6. Now, all results were gained in divisions 3, 4 and 5.
Lastly, let’s look ahead. Velosipedska’s first season goal will be the Copa de la Historia de los Andes. This will be our first participation in this cup (or any division 3 tour/cup). It’s still early in the season, but Riste Nikolovski will aim for a top-10 finish at least.
Jordan Spirkoski and Jovan Georgievski (recovering from a small injury) have no specific goals in the near future, but will take turns captaining our team in smaller races.
Unfortunately, Riste will most likely not be able to defend his title at Monte Rosa. Velosipedska will probably be placed too high in the rankings to participate. Depending on our results and placement, we will aim for our first Norway Tour participation. In case we fail to remain in division 3, this season might be dry on tour action for Velosipedska because of unfortunate rank timings.
It is difficult to set specific goals for S58 considering the tricky ranking situation we are in at the moment, but our main goal would be remaining in division 3 to participate in Norway. Riste should be good for the top-10 at least there.
---RIDER NEWS---
Perica Gancev and Goce Bisevac have left the Velosipedska academy. Both sprint talents would not have enjoyed a career at our climbing-oriented team and have joined Peak Cycling and Alpinisti na Ohrid respectively. We wish both riders all the best in their careers.
On the other hand, Ostoja Sakiri will be joining us from Alpinisti na Ohrid next season. He has very good climbing potential, but looks to be limited in other departments. He will join our team in support of the captains. Next time, we might have news to share regarding another talent from the Alpinisti academy. Stay tuned for that.
Muarem Kotsev has recently joined the Velosipedska academy. He has very good potential on the cobbles and is also good on the flats. We will guide Muarem during the first stages of his career, after which we will decide if there’s a path for cobble riders at Velosipedska, or if another team will be better suited to his needs.
Dragi Stavrevski will soon retire and join colleague Gjorgi Beqiri as a trainer. Stavrevski joined Velosipedska to replace Beqiri when he retired. Stavrevski might finish next season as a rider, but might retire earlier if the team can replace him.
A few rider achievements in S57:
Riste Nikolovski became the first Macedonian to defend a tour title, and the first Macedonian to win three jerseys (2x Monte Rosa GC, 1x Oryx YC).
Nikolovski (1945) is also closing in on 2000 career OCM points, and was the first Macedonian to reach 30 results (32 now).
Jordan Spirkoski became the third Macedonian to win a YC (Nikolovski won Oryx YC, Boban Karcev won Nederlandse YC).
Eftim Nastevski (102) became the 4th rider to reach 100 races for Velosipedska (Nikolovski leads on 142).
In races where Nastevski was a teammate, Velosipedska won 307k in prize money. Nastevski surpassed Gjorgi Beqiri in that regard, who saw captains win 285.5k during his time as road captain.
Jovan Georgievski became the 3d rider to grab 250 points for Velosipedska (Nikolovski 1945, Metodija Aksentiev 503).
Blagojce Mojsov became the second-most profitable rider in activities outside racing, bringing in 60k for the team (Slobodan Meglenski on 74k).
That is all for today, we hope to see you along the road next season.
Kind regards and thanks for reading,
KrMees (Manager)
